Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of artificial intelligence powerhouse OpenAI, has confirmed that he owns nearly $30 billion in shares of the company, despite the fact that he didn’t invest any of his own money into it.

Greg Brockman gave a testimony during the ongoing trial between Elon Musk and Sam Altman, in which he disclosed details about his stake in OpenAI. As reported by Bloomberg, Brockman confirmed that his shares in OpenAI are valued at more than $20 billion. When asked if the total value of his shares was closer to $30 billion, he responded, “Yes.”

However, Brockman went on to confirm that he did not invest any of his own money into OpenAI as a startup. This would seemingly imply that Brockman was granted OpenAI shares at some point since the company’s founding.

In the ongoing trial, Elon Musk, who co-founded OpenAI, is seeking to have both Greg Brockman and Sam Altman removed from their roles at the company as he believes they turned OpenAI into a for-profit business after his initial investment in the company as a non-profit. The defendants claim that Musk is only seeking legal action because OpenAI is a competitor of Musk’s xAI.
