With how quickly video games release these days, Resident Evil Requiem might as well be a lifetime ago. After all, it did release on February 27, and we're already into the month of May.

That said, Requiem has had some major staying power, thanks, in part, to some player discoveries, like how to increase Leon's accuracy, or the fact that an entire "phantom chapter" was cut from the game.

Everything We Want To See From Resident Evil Requiem's Story Expansion

Capcom has confirmed that plenty of new content is coming to Resident Evil Requiem.

Now, via developer Koshi Nakanishi, who spoke with Denfaminico Gamer, we have a better idea of how Requiem players used the game's camera system, and whether they kept things the way they were intended or switched things around.

It turns out, players were a lot more picky with Grace than they were with Leon.

For These Players, Doing The Grace Campaign In Third-Person Was The Best Decision

The majority of players, roughly 90 percent, elected to play Leon's campaign in the recommended third-person view point. As VideoGamesChronicle noted, Leon's appearances in RE games have historically been in third-person, making the decision that much easier.

Still, 10 percent of players wanted to truly feel like Leon Kennedy via first-person, and we can't blame them. After all, few video game protagonists are as cool as Leon S. Kennedy.

The same can't be said for Grace's side, where only 60 percent of players used the first-person perspective. That means the remaining 40 percent opted to play the game from the third-person POV.

Given how scary Grace's campaign can be at times, I don't blame anyone for switching things up.

Resident Evil Village made it a point to add a third-person camera perspective in its DLC expansion, so it's not like the perspective isn't favored by fans.

The data depends on the platform and region, with Nakanishi noting, "Players in Japan and other parts of Asia tend to prefer third-person shooter games, while on PC, the number of players who play first-person shooter games increases."

Yet, as surprising as the data may seem, Masato Kumazawa, a producer on Requiem, noted that it actually was par for the course for what they expected.

"From the development side, the results were largely as expected," Kumazawa said.

So there you have it, Requiem might recommend certain camera settings, but players will ultimately choose what's best for them.
