Franck and Abraham were heavily involved with the Expanse TV series and now have their own production company to handle the adaptation of this one — maybe Dagger and Coin is on their list as well. But they also seem to be better than Martin at not overcommitting, with too many projects going at the same time.

He eventually wrote a very short third book that took the story to a slightly less despairing place than Book 2, but I still consider Book 2 one of the most baffling things I've ever read. Just wall-to-wall despair and undoing most of the good the characters managed to achieve at hideous cost in the first book. I don't understand what he was going for in that novel, either from a narrative or metaphorical direction.
