Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of one of the most beloved games from the series, and game developer KONAMI has a few tricks in store to give fans a new stealth-action experience exclusive to MGS. In June, it was announced that the remake would include a multiplayer game mode called Fox Hunt, but it won't be available upon release.

MGS3: Snake Eater was originally released in 2004 and quickly garnered widespread respect for a thrilling and immersive story, challenging combat and boss fights, and top-tier attention to detail.

The remake will have a complete visual overhaul thanks to Unreal Engine 5, a new camera system, combat enhancements, updated character models, audio upgrades, and the new multiplayer mode Fox Hunt.

Konami offered an extended look at the new multiplayer mode, which they say is a completely different multiplayer experience from Metal Gear Online.

"When we say Metal Gear multiplayer, many fans will probably think of Metal Gear Online, but Fox Hunt will be its own new type of mode. We very much appreciate all the long-time fans of MGO who have always wanted to see it make a comeback, but the landscape of multiplayer games has changed a lot since MGO. It took a lot of careful consideration to think about what a new online mode should look like."

Commonly referred to as a masterpiece in the gaming world, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater immersed players in a nail-biting stealth and survival adventure through the Cold War era, and the Fox Hunt mode looks to accentuate the camouflaging and stealth tactics to make it the focal point of this new experience.

Based on the iconic stealth and survival elements in the Metal Gear series, we are taking camouflage and hide-and-go-seek to the next level. We challenged ourselves to make something unique that is more than just a shoot-out. We've used that back-and-forth tension of staying hidden or searching out the enemy to create an online experience that is unique to Metal Gear.

KONAMI is giving one of Metal Gear Solid's most loved games the all-star treatment it deserves, which could potentially make it one of the best remakes in recent history, depending on how smooth the experience turns out to be, and they've even updated the boss fights as well.

“While the basic gameplay of the boss battles remains the same, we’ve made some updates to the AI and animations, and rebalanced some things.” Creative Producer, Yuji Korekado (via IGN)

Metal Gear Solid 3 Delta: Snake Eater is scheduled to release on August 28 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the Fox Hunt mode will come out in the fall, but you can expect to see reviews for the game before it's even out, as the embargo will be lifted on Friday, August 22. Lifting the review embargo prior to the games' release isn't overly common, and could signify that KONAMI is confident fans are going to like what they've done.
