Okay, yeah, I've seen that tweet before. "Getting queerbaited by Marvel is like losing chess to a dog". It's true! At best, we'll get subtle hints or scraps thrown our way, which is why I am taking this Marvel Rivals theory with a pinch of salt, but it is worth discussing anyway.

Today, we got our first look at White Fox and Black Cat in Marvel Rivals. White Fox doesn't have a confirmed sexuality, but in her previous appearances across different media, Black Cat, AKA Felicia Hardy, is bisexual. Now, that alone wouldn't be much, but this comes at the same time as we were told that Season 7 would be the "gayest" season of Marvel Rivals yet, so fans have started to connect the dots - and many are getting their hopes up.

Are Black Cat And White Fox Gal Pals In Marvel Rivals?

Okay, let's rewind a bit. Miller Ross is a content creator and streamer who shares Marvel Rivals news. Last month, he teased some info about Season 7, describing it as the "gayest" season yet, but he couldn't explain what this meant until we knew who was in it. We now know that the new characters are White Fox and Black Cat, one of whom is canonically queer. The cherry on top is that Ross then shared a clip of them with the caption "love is in the air".

Even putting that aside, many were quick to pick up on something going on between the pair in their reveal. They are awfully close, and cradling your rivals' face so they have to look at you is a bit... y'know.

To temper our expectations a bit, we're probably just going to get a few nudges and winks here and there, but not enough to actually establish them as a canonical couple like the others in the game, or as characters who hit on each other, as we also see elsewhere on the roster. I mean, we literally have a lesbian character, and we have almost nothing referencing her female love interest, so I fear we are in for more of the same.

But perhaps not, only time will tell. Who knows? Maybe this Pride Month, Marvel Rivals will actually have something to show for itself. And hopefully that something is toxic yuri.
