When Genshin Impact was first released, it had quite a variety of meta supports like Bennett or Xiangling, who are still some of the best units to build in the game. However, as the game progressed, most of the released support characters were niche and specific to some play styles.

Thankfully, players got another all-rounder support during the Version 5.1 update in the form of Xilonen. She's a five-star Sword-wielding Geo character with the capabilities to do a lot of things at once, but it's quite important to build her properly first.

Best Xilonen Builds

Apart from having a beautiful design and some fantastic animations, Xilonen has quite a few useful aspects in her kit that make her one of the most valuable characters to have. Here are some of them:

  • Firstly, she can easily climb various cliffs across Teyvat in her Nightsoul state, which lasts for quite a long time even outside Natlan. Of course, this aspect of her kit is far better in Natlan since you can also use Phlogiston after your Nightsoul runs out.
  • She can provide up to 36 percent RES shred on the enemies for some specific elements in your party, alongside another 40 percent Elemental DMG bonus that you can get in a specific build.
  • She can act both as a phenomenal support and as the main DPS on your team. If you go for the former choice, she can also heal the active character for the next 12 seconds after performing an Elemental Burst.

All of this already seems too good to be true, but the best part about Xilonen is that she's not meant to replace your support in a party like Kazuha. Instead, she's meant to replace your sustainer, which allows you to run her with another support and get all these buffs for free.

Of course, Xilonen's biggest downside is that she doesn't work with Dendro or Anemo main DPS characters.

If you read Xilonen's kit, you'll realize that she can essentially go for two of these play styles and builds:

Xilonen Support Build

Artifact Set

Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City

Weapons

Peak Patrol Song, Freedom-Sworn, Flute of Ezpitzal

Regardless of what characters you have on your account, Xilonen's support build will undoubtedly be the best one to go for. This is because she can provide the 40 percent Elemental DMG bonus and the active character healing mentioned above during this build, apart from the 36 percent RES shred that she can get regardless.

The Elemental DMG Bonus comes from the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City artifact set once you trigger the Crystallize reaction with her in the Nightsoul state. If you have weapons like Freedom-Sworn or Peak Patrol Song on her, you can give your party additional buffs as well.

You'd want to trigger Crystallize with the element of your main DPS since the Elemental DMG Bonus only applies to the elements involved.

Flute of Ezpitzal serves as a decent F2P-friendly option for this build since Xilonen's healing from the Burst is based on her DEF, which is boosted significantly with this weapon.

Xilonen DPS Build

Artifact Set

Obsidian Codex

Weapons

Uraku Misugiri, Flute of Ezpitzal

When you think of a DPS build for a support unit, it's mostly meant as a funny build since most supports don't have the damage required for it unless you get some constellations on them. This is different in Xilonen's case since she has some inherent aspects of the kit that make her a decent DPS in a specific scenario.

This build can only work if you have less than two members from Hydro, Cryo, Electro, and Pyro elements in the team (more on this below). Obsidian Codex becomes the best set if you want to use DPS Xilonen, and luckily, you can farm it alongside the set required for her support build.

It's important to mention that Xilonen's overall value will decrease with this build, but it's still viable.

Uraku Misugiri is the best five-star option for the build with Flute of Ezpitzal being the F2P-friendly option. No matter which weapon you choose, it won't be hard to have a decent Crit Ratio on her due to the free 40 percent provided by Obsidian Codex. Of course, you can also use her signature weapon since it already gives more DEF than Flute apart from some other buffs.

Xilonen Artifact Priority

Genshin Impact Xilonen's artifact screen.

Before you start working on Xilonen's artifacts and getting the best stats on her, you'll first have to determine the build you're using. Both her builds have significantly different artifact stat priorities:

Support Build Stat Priority

Artifact Type

Main Stat Priority

Sub Stat Priority

Flower

HP

DEF Percent > Energy Recharge > Crit/Elemental Mastery (optional)

Feather

ATK

DEF Percent > Energy Recharge > Crit/Elemental Mastery (optional)

Sands

Energy Recharge

DEF Percent > Crit/Elemental Mastery (optional)

Goblet

DEF Percent

Energy Recharge > Crit/Elemental Mastery (optional)

Circlet

DEF Percent

Energy Recharge > Crit/Elemental Mastery (optional)

Since these stats are significantly easy to get, you can try having a decent Crit Rate or Elemental Mastery on Xilonen.

The latter takes priority since EM can help you make better shields with Crystallize, which you're going to be triggering anyway for her artifact set.

Xilonen Talent Overview And Priority

Genshin Impact Xilonen's talent screen.

Since Xilonen can have two opposite play styles, it can be a little difficult to understand how it all works, so here are a few simple things you need to know:

  • Triggering her Elemental Skill summons three samplers that you can see beside her Nightsoul bar. These are initially all Geo but they get converted into Pyro/Hydro/Electro/Cryo for each party member you have from the corresponding element.
  • Geo samplers are always activated during her Nightsoul state. If you have two or more samplers that got converted to other elements, you can activate them by performing basic attacks until your Nighsoul bar fills up and gets consumed.
  • When a sampler of a certain element is activated, the nearby opponents will get RES shred for that element.
  • Her Elemental Burst can heal the active party member for 12 seconds if you get her samplers activated by filling the Nightsoul bar. On the other hand, it'll deal two extra instances of damage if you have two or more Geo samplers.

With all this in mind, it's obvious that the main aspect of Xilonen's kit exists in her Elemental Skill, making it the priority for upgrades. This works the best since she can already heal quite a lot even when your Burst is only at level four or five. However, you'll have to upgrade the Burst after your Skill to get full value.

Finally, you only need to upgrade her Normal Attacks if you're using her as a DPS since this talent has her multipliers for the attacks in Nightsoul state as well.
