It's another beautiful day of the week, and to ruin that perfect day, FromSoftware has dropped a fresh, enhanced Nightlord boss fight in Elden Ring Nightreign, this time with everyone's favourite satanic goat, Libra, in the Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast expedition.

The highlight of this Everdark version is that it has the most chaotic mechanics ever seen in a Soulsborne boss fight—perfectly living up to the hype that my friends and I had for this guy.

team comp for everdark libra

Team comp is extremely essential here: Everdark Libra's core new mechanic that has everyone in a pickle is how he can summon 'Condemed' versions of your characters throughout the fight with their own unorthodox builds. He'll also rarely summon unique Nightfarers not in your group, but that's a real lowball chance.

The team comp I'm about to suggest is based on the trios format, but I'll also separately specify any character that can work in Duos or even Solo mode. I'll also detail anything that your condemned Nightfarers bring so you can better plan what characters to use here.

  • Guardian: Birdman Mains are going to be highly essential solely because you'll get downed a lot due to the chaotic nature of the fight, and that's where Guardian's Wings of Salvation Ultimate Art can be the lifesaver. Although his condemned version can be annoying to deal with, it's hard to pass up bringing him here due to how many times my friend revived us with his ultimate.
  • Revenant: A friend of mine who mained Wylder switched to the Revenant on our sixth run solely because of her nimble nature and how the Condemed Wylder became the run-ender component. Revenant is a fairly flexible character, with the highlight being how you can spam faith incantations from a distance. Just be mindful of her low health, as it might be a deal-breaker for some players.
  • Raider: The Raider is by far the best character to use if you're doing this in solos or duos. He can even work in Trios, as his character skill (with the optimal relic setup) can allow you to tank through Libra's devastating attacks with ease and even buff you up in the process. Plus, power-stancing via his strength-based weapons is one of the best ways to stagger bosses in Nightreign.
  • Ironeye: An alternative option for the fight. I know using Ironeye here might sound like an instant red flag due to its low HP and damage, but the Weakening Mark and I-frames from both that ability and the Ultimate Art can be lifesavers here. He's the character I used to prevent Condemned Raiders from brutalizing my teammates.

Key Differences With Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

Oh boy, where do I even begin explaining the mechanics of this fight? Firstly, the main highlight here is that the Everdark Sovereign Libra will summon Condemned Nightfarers periodically throughout the fight.

These are corrupted versions of your characters. The number of players in your expedition determines how many Condemned Nightfarers can spawn at a given time, and that is primarily the reason why this fight is the epitome of chaos in trios.

Everdark Libra can also cast various types of debuffs throughout the fight, some of which are based on the deals he offers, which I've specified below in brief detail, along with their callout messages.

  • A Demon Summons the Condemned: Same as I've iterated above, where Everdark Libra will summon hostile Nightfarers with their own preset builds. Examples can be a Wylder with a greatbow that can rain down arrows to instantly kill you in a blink of an eye and an Ironeye that can use the Jar Cannon from far away.
  • A Demon Offers a Challenge: A status effect that halves the HP of all characters for 30 seconds. Most notably, there are reports of this debuff only occurring when Everdark Libra is past 50 percent HP.
  • A Demon Shrouds All Allies: Makes you and your teammates invisible to one another for 30 seconds. On a rare occasion, Everdark Libra may also apply this to the Condemned Nightfarers.
  • A Demon Offers a False Blessing: Gain unlimited Crimson Tear Flask charges for 30 seconds, but using them each time will make your character lose a level.
  • A Demon Incites a Riot: Summons an additional team of Condemned Nightfarers on top of the existing ones, but this time they'll fight each other and can even attack Libra.
  • A Demon Reveals an Inescapable Eye: Essentially, the "Power of a Demon" deal that you get from Libra's clouded form, but without the power-up benefits. Lasts for 30 seconds.
  • A Demon Preaches Madness: Applies the Madness to all of you and your teammates' weapons, as well as the Condemned NPCs. This can be used to a great extent against Libra to push him into an enraged state.

As I move on to the prep stuff, I want you to closely remember the Riot and Madness Preach debuffs, as they'll become a crucial part of the strategy despite being reliant on RNG.

A strategy guide on how to efficiently beat the Everdark Sovereign version of Caligo in Elden Ring: Nightreign.

How To Prepare For Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

Unlike the Everdark Caligo guide, where I obliged getting the Mountaintop Favor and Frost Resistances as the main prep, there's a fair bit of leniency and obvious things that you can bring against Everdark Libra.

Firstly, Madness armaments are (obviously) beneficial. Vyke's Spear and even the Frenzied Flame Seal's Flame of Frenzy Incantation are must-have options if you manage to obtain them, as I've shown above.

If you stumble upon any Madness boluses, be sure to consume them, as, contrary to what many players don't know, the effects of these boluses last throughout the expedition and can even stack depending on how many you consume.

Lastly, while you can go to any Shifting Earth Event, my teammates and I found Noklateo's favor to be absolutely crucial, as not only does it auto-revive everyone, but it also temporarily boosts your HP and Stamina.

Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast Moveset

Surprisingly, the majority of Everdark Libra's moveset remains unchanged, with a few mixups regarding its magic attacks, which I've described below, just in case you want to know how much it has changed in terms of the base version.

Much like the previous enhanced Nightlords, I won't be going over base Libra's moveset, as you quickly bypass that to trigger the Everdark Sovereign phase.

Moveset

Description

Phase Transition Stance

Libra will begin its Everdark transformation at about a quarter of its HP. Try not to stay within proximity and avoid touching the sigils next to it that summon the Condemned, as they can cause Madness buildup.

Enhanced Madness Rays

As my co-worker Christian pointed out in the base Libra guide. This is essentially a remix of the crystal shooting sigil attack that Libra summons randomly throughout the fight. The difference with these is that they'll now rotate from left to right while shooting the crystal burst. Make sure to promptly dodge them or evade their vicinity.

Enhanced Madness Circles

These are those same ground eruption attacks that can potentially one-shot squishy characters like Ironeye. The enhanced version allows for random spawn points in the arena for these circles. It will occasionally burst even when Everdark Libra is doing the normal variant of this attack.

Quadrant Segments

The most notable new attack from Everdark Libra is how he partitions the arena into four segments with invisible walls, trapping each player in it for a brief period. If you get too close to the walls and cross over, you'll get damaged by one of the Libra's scales, so it's recommended that you stay there until the segments disappear.

Enraged Rampage

Once you weaken or apply the Madness debuff on him, Libra can do the same enraging attack he does in his second phase form, where he'll pound the ground a few times before unleashing the Madness Rain from the ground. This is also the best time to damage

Teleportation

Similar to the base Teleportation move, Libra can use the Madness Circles to move across the arena and even teleport directly to your location with a follow-up attack.

How To Beat Everdark Sovereign Equilibrious Beast

First Phase

elden ring nightreign everdark libra transition

As always, you need to first take care of Libra's base variant, who'll start the fight in his phase two form. I strongly suggest that you don't waste any healing flasks here; you need every bit of them when the Everdark phase kicks in.

However, another thing that I highly encourage you to do as soon as the fight begins is to inflict the Madness status effect on Libra, as it'll trigger his enraged form.

This will also allow you to dish out as much damage as possible and even possibly stagger him, getting him well past the threshold of when his Everdark form takes center stage.

Be mindful of his melee attacks using his staff, and don't get greedy enough that it might cost you a revive from your teammate; we don't want that to happen this early on here.

Second Phase

fighting libra in the everdark sovereign form

The main strategy, believe it or not, that I'm about to tell you is mainly centered around one main core component: survivability.

And I mean that literally, because in trios and even in duos, this fight is hellishly chaotic, especially if you don't focus on taking some of the Condemned Nightfarers out of the equation – especially the ones who love to attack from range.

Taking out the Condemned Nightfarers also drops glowing orbs that allow you to gain slight damage buffs and restore HP.

This is where team composition is exceptionally crucial. If you've got two Wylders, expect to see a bunch of Wylders continuously spam you with raining arrow attacks from far away.

To prevent exactly that, I urge you to experiment with different characters and see which ones are doable for you to handle in this fight as their condemned versions.

a demon incites a riot

Now, remember when I told you about the Riot and Madness Preach debuffs? The riot is essentially our window to focus on Libra, as it's likely that everyone will start fighting each other or Libra. And no, their damage is barely non-existent on him.

With the Madness Preach debuff, this is basically a cheat code for you to quickly and apply the Madness effect in stacks on Libra in its Everdark form.

Since the hostile Nightfarers gain this effect, you won't even notice how you can unexpectedly apply this Libra and send him into his enraged form, as you can also happen to do this with your ultimate attacks.

The enraged/stunned form is also a way to prevent Libra from going into the debuff casting stance.

You can also try having one teammate bait the condemned NPCs around. Still, again, this entire fight can be relatively different for everyone, so try to take out any easy long-ranged ones so you can focus on Libra, because the melee condemned will need to get in close to damage you.

So again, preserve yourself as much as possible, and if you can make it through without dying, at least you'll have the auto-revive ready to buff your squad up so you can take out Libra in a final push to victory, just as my team did.
