Bungie took to social media on February 18, 2026 to let players know that Destiny 2: Shadow and Order has been delayed until June 9, 2026. The expansion was scheduled to release on March 3, 2026, a mere two days before the release of Bungie’s new game, Marathon.

The small social post notes that the expansion is “undergoing large revisions,” which include a change to its name and sizeable quality-of-life updates. There’s no mention of whether this delay will see additional content included in the expansion.

For those players who are looking for more info on the upcoming expansion, Bungie will offer details on some key points closer to release. These include: Weapon Tier upgrading, expanding Tiered gear to all raid and dungeon activities, Pantheon 2.0, Tier 5 stats for Exotic armor, and more.

Since the announcement that Marathon is launching on March 5, players have been begging Bungie for a shred of news regarding the Shadow and Order expansion. Players doubted that Bungie would release both products so close together, and they were right. This delay means that Renegades will tie Season of the Wish as the longest seasons/expansion in Destiny 2, coming in at 189 days. The advantage Season of the Wish had was that it was leading directly into The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 has been suffering from an exodus of players ever since The Final Shape released in June 2024. This was the conclusion to the decade-long Light and Darkness saga, and with no new threats to keep players engaged, it acted as a natural jumping-off point for veterans. While the Star Wars-themed Renegades saw a peak of players in December, it’s done little to revive the declining playercount. This delay to Shadow and Order likely won’t help either.
