What is Dreglord, Straghess' weakness in Elden Ring Nightreign?

The Dreglord is a massive, grotesque boss in Elden Ring Nightreign, but does he really have no weaknesses?

The Dreglord, Traitorous Straghess, is one of two bosses that arrived with the Forsaken Hollows DLC, and is the more diabolical of them. A being of pure rage bent only on vengeance, his weaknesses — if he has any — might surprise you.

The Dreglord is weak to piercing weapons, fire, and holy damage in both phases. This is despite the fact the expedition description says the Dreglord has no obvious weakness. As with most things FromSoftware, the truth is a bit more nuanced.

Weakness, as described here, means no element applies a special debuff or stagger effect to the Dreglord. Think Adel’s Poison vomit, Fulghor’s lightning stagger, or the madness you can imbue into the Equilibrious Beast.

The Dreglord does have elemental weaknesses as they apply to damage, and you can cause most status effects to activate on him, like Bleed, Poison, Rot, and so on.

The Nightlord weakness chart from Reddit for Elden Ring Nightreign

In-depth community testing (and likely no small amount of datamining) has allowed Nightreign players to assemble a Nightlord weakness chart as posted by Reddit user Penpenplon.

These findings are illuminating and make a lot of sense. When fighting the Dreglord, you’ll want to use the following elements and statuses, as he has the listed lower resistance to them:

  • Holy: 25% lower resistance
  • Fire: 20% lower resistance
  • Bleed: Low resistance
  • Frostbite: Low resistance

Low resistance to status effects means it takes relatively few hits to cause the effect to occur. Both Poison and Rot have high resistance, but with enough work, you can apply them.

The only status the Dreglord is actually immune to is Madness, and he's essentially immune to Sleep, and only in the second phase, Pure Impulse Straghess. I say “essentially” because his resistance in phase two is at the maximum possible value, meaning you’re more likely to kill him before the Sleep effect would activate once.

Slashing and Piercing weapons are better against the Dreglord as well, as he boasts a 10% lower resistance to those damage types.

The only element you don’t want to use against the Dreglord is lightning, as he has a 10% increased resistance to that.

Ideally, you’d be using a Sacred weapon favored by your class. Think a Nagakiba for Executor or Marika’s Hammer for Undertaker. Maliketh’s Black Blade is a great choice for Raider, and so on.

Again, don’t expect anything special to occur if you use these types of weapons, and you should focus on acquiring weapon types you play best with, but Sacred and Fire weapons are ideal to carry here.

John's been gaming for almost 30 years, starting with Super Mario 64, but his first real love is Final Fantasy. Or Armored Core, depending on how he slept last night. If you want to know where to find an item in a massive open world or how to beat a boss, he can help. They've probably kicked his teeth in a few times already. You can normally find him eyes deep in the latest FromSoftware game if he isn't doing dailies in the half-dozen live service games he plays. He can be found on BlueSky.
